Hey guys!!! How's it going with you all? I know, I'm very much overdue for one of these things. So...prepare for a bunch of random crap! =O

School: Schooooool's out, for, the summer! And it's about freaking time. I got really good grades overall, much better than I's expected, so I'm happy about that. Unfortunately, I now have AP US history homework to do all summer.

Band: 2008 marching band has officially begun! Our show for this year is Ellis Island: The Dream of America, by Peter Boyer. It's all about immigrants travelling to America in search of a better life. Have any of you guys played/heard it? I really like it so far, even though I haven't heard it with the full band. It's got a lot of cool themes in it. This year's freshmen are AWESOME too. I love them. I can tell it's going to be a great season already, even if we don't have a trip this year.

Art: I have a TON of things started that aren't quite finished yet. Remember this? [link] Well, I added a little more to that. I coloured the fire on one prong and added waves to another - I'm going to make each prong represent a different element (fire, water, earth, air, spirit). I have another picture of good ol' Carla Rodriguez vey close to being finished, I just have to get done colouring it. There's also a rather good realistic drawing of Naomi ([link]) and a metal-ish dragon that I think is pretty sweet. And I have a few drawings done for SaxGirl1010's Vengeance meme (that reminds me, I need to get started on that band geek meme too). And there may be a writing piece or two coming soon.

Other: Uhmmm.....there's other stuff going on, but I can't remember it all right now. OH! I just got Disturbed's new album, Indestructible. OMFG. IT'S. AMAZING. Go buy it now. Or, if you're too cheap...go be a terrible person and illegally download it. But just go listen to it. It's incredible. =O Also, we got a birdhouse in our backyard. So far, we've had a bluebird nest in it this year, and there's a swallow nest in there right now. The baby birds are so cuuute...but the parents are defensive. If you go out anywhere in the backyard, they will literally swoop down and basically dive-bomb your head. It's kind of funny though. And (believe it or not) we have a peach tree in our backyard now...I basically just stuck a seed in the ground a few years ago and forgot all about it. I can't believe it grew! But it actually has peaches on it now! They're not quite ripe yet, but there are tons of them, so I'm excited.

So anyways...I hope everything's going just as well for you guys. I'm going to be really busy this summer (between band and homework and just hanging out), but I will try my best to get some artwork done. Over and out!

I'm back, and I've missed you all! Everything's been going pretty well in my neck of the woods. (What's up with that saying anyway? Woods don't have necks! D

The band that I'm in for school competed in the district band contest and got a II overall. (We get a rating of I (best) to V (worst).) So we didn't go to States - it's the first time that's ever happened. But I guess it's not too bad.

School's been spectacular and my grades have been nice, despite the fact that my earth science teacher doesn't know what he's doing. I've been on an artistic kick lately, but my scanner's still not working, so I've had to take photos of my work. Not the best quality, but it's all good.

Other than that, not a whole lot's been going on. Life's been quiet, and I'm thankful for that. I'm still as happy as I can be. But how are all of you? I do hope that you're doing just as well!

Hey people! Yes I am still alive, just been busy. But the workload is lessening (thank God), so I have more time for art! However - my scanner broke, and our new one doesn't seem to like this computer very much. >.< If we can get it to cooperate, I have a piece already done and one very close to being finished. But at the moment, all I can do is written works and photos.

For those of you who are interested, update on my life:

Marching band season is technically over (has been for about a month), but we're taking a trip to Arizona to be in the Fiesta Bowl parade and the National Band Championships!!! *uber-excited* So we still have outdoor marching practice twice a week, which is SO fun in the cold...yeah. I'm getting really rusty since we haven't been out every day, but I think I'll be fine by the time we leave. Which, by the way, is December 26th - and I have to be at the airport by 4:30 am. So we're probably not going to be able to eat at my grandma's this year in order to be home in time. And on top of that, my brother is on a different flight, at 7:30, at a different airport. Grr...but other than that, I think it's going to be an amazing trip. I'm rooming with four of my best friends at the hotel (yay!). On another topic, pep band is starting soon! First basketball game is this Friday.

Symphonic band is reeeeally hard, but really fun. I did reeeeally well in my audition and, in addition to making Symphonic (the highest band possible), I got sixth chair!! That means sixth out of about 20! ^^ *is proud* The music is crazy awesome. We're playing Overture to Candide, Tempered Steel, Festive Overture, The Klaxon, and Apollo Unleashed, and possibly Violino Primo. Has anyone played any of these before? I love them. Junior Winds is okay - we had our first concert about a week ago, and did pretty well. However, I really don't like this new batch of music. We are playing Holst's First Suite in Eb, which is awesome in addition to being one of the greatest classics ever. But the rest is less than stellar. Ah well.

(I just realized...I'm updating on my life and I immediately start talking about band. xD)

Anyways...I know it's pretty early, but Happy Holidays in advance! It still hasn't snowed yet here, but people are already putting their lights and decorations up, and of course Christmas shopping has started. ^^ Our school is doing A Christmas Story as their play, and my friend is going to be in it as one of Santa's elves. I finally got around to actually watching A Christmas Story again, and I can't wait to see the play now. School has been going pretty sweet. We've done quite a few dissections in biology, which were fun, except that we never finish them in time. Ah well. I've been catching up on schoolwork and homework, which is a very great thing, and my grades are reflecting it.

Oh, but the most exciting thing that's been hapenning lately? The bomb threats! We've seriously had two in about the past month or two. And both times, a note was found in the boy's restroom, which is strange. The first one was signed Skitzo, but the second one was anonymous, and I think was just a joke. The first time we went into lockdown for about an hour or two, and the second time we actually had to evacuate and go to the junior high (which is on the same campus, but still). That was fun, because we had all the students and staff - and we're a very large school - all crammed into one junior high gym. There was enough room to sit, and that was it. Plus, once we were all in the gym, we had to find our teacher. Well, I was in biology, and my teacher stands at an impressive height of about 5 feet. It took forever to find her. But it was actually pretty fun after that, because I was sitting with all of my friends and we just talked for an hour or two.

Well, I've certainly rambled a lot. I think that's about everything interesting that's going on in my life. If I remember something else I'm dying to tell you guys, I'll edit this. As always, I hope you all are doing well!

First of all...happy birthday to me!! On October 5th, at 6:07 pm, I officially turned 14...on the band bus.

Speaking of band, this past weekend was CRAZY. We had an away game on Friday (which the team actually WON! ), then on Saturday we had two band competitions. One of them was at the OSU stadium (OMFG), and the other was at a high school. We got ones at both. And of course, this all took place during the hottest weekend EVER on record in Columbus in October. On Sunday we set a record at 91 degrees.

But dude...the OSU band is fucking amazing. There's just no other word for it. They're amazing. There's a reason why they're called the Best Damn Band In The Land.

So yeah...I'm EXTREMELY tuckered out right now. More so than I think I'd realized before this point. I came the closest I've ever been to falling asleep in class today. But I just physically can't fall asleep in school - when I'm about to drift off, something in me jerks me awake. Sometimes I'll literally jump or twitch (which tends to freak other people out). But we have this Thursday and Friday off from school, which is awesome. Hopefully I'll have a chance to catch up on lost sleep.

By the way (cross your fingers!) I think my art block is coming to an end. So yes! I have a lineart very close to being done right now! Athraxio. Would have been Athrax, but it was taken.

02.] What made you choose this name?
That's been my nickname for a while now, and it's the name of my elf character (look in my gallery if you haven't seen the picture). Basically, it's "anthrax" without the N.

03.] Do you use PC or Mac?
PC...Macs are weird.

04.] What programs do you use most often?
Internet Explorer, MS Paint, occasionally MS Word.

I don't draw digitally...but a tablet would be interesting.

It all depends on the character...I guess mostly earthy colours, and black.

Probably the face. I can never get faces to turn out right.

I absolutely hate this question. Who keeps track? I can name maybe one occasion where I've done a picture all in one sitting.

I don't have rough drafts often...generally I turn a rough draft into a final copy.

Not yet. Rites of Passage won't be printed until probably April, and The Flibbertigibbet will come out next away game or competition.

When I get art block and don't update for a long time...then I start feeling guilty. And the fact that I have 829 deviations piled up in my inbox. It's going to catch fire one of these days. xD
Oh, that and the fact that now, if you're under 18 you can't view mature-content deviations. You no longer have the choice - you automatically can't view it. Which sucks, because I feel like I'm being stereotyped because of my age. I like to think that I'm mature enough to handle artistic mature content. But apparently DA thinks differently...

68.] How about situations that make you love it?
Just about all of it. The friends I've made, the art I've viewed that's really changed me. Seeing other people's views expressed - both in positive and negative ways - has really shaped me. I don't know where I'd be without it.

Every time somebody gets stalked and raped, obviously. But also, the fact that the anonymity of the Internet seems to bring out the worst in people. They figure that since no one knows who they are, they can be rude and obnoxious and just a total ass. It pisses me off.

Yeah, I think I'm more open about myself and my beliefs. And I'm MUCH more social and friendly online. In real life, people are intimidating.
